Submission guidelines for writers, artists and photographers
Writers
Please be familiar with The Mother magazine, as it will make all
the difference as to whether your piece is considered for publication.
We receive many submissions, most of which can't be used, as they
are not in alignment with our ethos. See page 4.
Our articles, photography and art work are chosen to inspire people
in making conscious and aware choices which benefit children, themselves
and the environment ~ locally and globally. We do not encourage
consumerism.
Photographers
Photos which are emailed must be 300dpi in the original large file,
in full colour, suitable for an A4 page, and reflect natural living.
If posting a photo, please ensure it is not your only copy and that
a ssae is enclosed if you'd like it returned. If you would like
the photographer credited, this information must be supplied at
the same time as the photograph is submitted.
 Artists
We welcome original artwork suitable for black and white publishing.
Advertisers
We take very limited advertising, and our publication is sustained
solely through subscriptions. This puts us in a unique position
amongst magazines, as it means our editorial is not compromised
in any way. At all times we can remain true to our vision. Our editorial
and publishing team see our advertisers as a resource for readers.
We welcome advertisements for eco-friendly and ethical products
and services. We don't accept adverts for cots, buggies, baby monitors,
disposable nappies, formula milk, baby bottles, gro-bags, baby walkers,
leashes/harnesses, or commercial baby food.
Payment
Writers
Current UK subscribers who contribute an article (over 1000 words)
that is published in the magazine have their subscription extended
by a further three issues (six months), including delivery. Current
overseas subscribers who contribute an article (over 1000 words)
that is published in the magazine have their subscription extended
by a further two issues, including delivery costs. Short articles/poetry
= one issue.
Non-Subscribers receive one free copy of the magazine.
Photographers
Artists and photographers will receive a copy of the issue in which
their submission is published. If your photograph appears on the
cover of The Mother we will give you, or a friend, three free issues
(either of the same issue, or consecutive ones).
**We are an animal-aware publication and do not take articles or
adverts which involve the use or abuse of animals in any way.
